Quirky chicken at Yard & Coop

Friday, 13 January 2017

Just before Christmas I was lucky enough to be invited along to the opening of a new Liverpool restaurant, Yard & Coop. An eatery based around chicken as the name suggests, this new location is only the second for the fledgling franchise after the success of their flagship in Manchester. So I was excited to pop along to try out some dishes on the night, and I was not disappointed.

The dining experience at the restaurant is among some of the best quirk you will ever see. As you enter down to the seating area, a tree in the entrance greats you while its roots can be seen coming through the ceiling underneath. Below soft light and retro furniture adorns the bar and surrounding area to create a relaxed lounge feeling. On the opposite end of the restaurant the focus is on a large double decker chicken coop fully decked out with booth style tables. All over Y&C little pockets of curated decor further adds to the unique personality of the place, if there really is a home for "cheeky" chicken it would be here.

To start off the night we tried out some of the cocktails they have on offer, all of the ones I tried were delicious and went down a treat. You could tell that the bar staff really had a good sense on how to make fantastic cocktails.

Now onto the main course, literally, the food I had at Y&C was divine. Chicken is their main deal and they do it flawlessly, all of the meat served is buttermilk fried making it really succulent and creamy tasting. I ended up having the Parma Bird Burger meal (£12), a delicious brioche chicken burger wrapped in parma ham with cheese, rocket, mayo and some chips on the side. It was amazing and something I would definitely recommend. Also the service we received was excellent the waiting staff were fun, knowledgeable and accommodating.

All in all it was a great experience and would heartily recommend Yard & Coop to anyone looking for a good meal.
